Why Straight Pipe Rules Do Not Apply to Most Coriolis Meters
Many engineers expect every flow meter to need 10D or 20D straight pipe. That is true for vortex meters, turbine meters, and orifice plates. A Coriolis mass flow meter measures mass flow directly inside the vibrating tubes. It does not depend on a fully developed flow profile. That is why a DN25 Coriolis meter can be installed 0.2 m after a 90 degree elbow and still meet accuracy specifications.

First, verify the meter is not under pipeline stress. Support the pipe on both sides within 0.5 m for small meters and 1 m for larger meters.
